Pastoral Care is fundamental at Ashfield Post 16 to develop students’ health and wellbeing, build individual resilience and enhance academic achievements. The Sixth Form team strives to ensure that all pupils feel included, valued and supported.

Our strong Form Tutor team plays a vital role in ensuring that all students are happy, healthy and able to make the most of all opportunities available to them.

Assemblies are regularly held with the Assistant Head and Head of Post 16 providing important information and advising students of opportunities available to them within and outside school.

Tutor sessions each week provide a forum for gaining and developing knowledge and understanding on a range of issues affecting young adults and Sixth Form students.

Students also have 2 – 3 individual Progress and Wellbeing reviews each academic year, to support them with both academic progress and set targets but also to provide them with 1:1 support with all areas of their personal journey in Post 16.

In addition to this support, we also provide:

  • A non-teaching pastoral support officer
  • An academic mentor
  • A designated wellbeing room
  • An onsite confidential school counsellor

Whilst every effort is made to support our students, some students may experience difficulties that we are not fully equipped to deal with and may require health professionals’ intervention. If you feel your child requires additional support we would strongly recommend that you seek the advice of your doctor to discuss your concerns as soon as possible.

Perhaps the most important advice is to be organised, to manage your time effectively, and to ask for help as soon as you need it.
